ISSUES: childhood obesity, Fitness equipment, outdoor life, competition, team vs individual sports, drug use, Play as fitness habit, focus, creativity, learning through physical movement and play
Childhood obesity:
Several improvement teachers can make over established methods of teaching fitness:
- Exercise is a treat; and should NEVER be a punishment!
- Wellness is loving your body, loving your body has to do with what you can do and where it takes you NOT how it looks.
- Weight and fitness machines are worthless. Show me 10,000 pounds of machines and dumbells and i will show you 5 times as many exercises to get more muscle groups with NO weights whatsoever!
- Competition is not the enemy- constant comparison is.
- Team sports have been eclipsed by individual sports in PE classes everywhere. We are sacrificing Cooperation and teamwork skills for person to person, individual comparison.
- Exercise is a time for freedom and creativity NOT a time to be controlled even more than usual! Kids get out of class and go to recess or pe and find themsleves going form boredom to bootcamp- bootcamp is apealing to those who need help motivating to exercise. Kids dont need help motivating, they just need the freedom to move!
- Driving to the bike trail, hiking trail or health club! Get on your bike and bicycle there!
- The whole earth is a health club- every where you go; every bus stop, every park, every office is a health club. Too many people are conditioned to only exercise in an “exercise room” filled with”exercise equipment”. Every other place is an excuse not to exercise.
- Which attitude do you have: ” I don’t do ____ for an exercise because I am not in shape for it” OR “I going to try_____ for exercise because , even though I may suck at first, i will get better.”
- Diet vs exercise which comes first? Exercise! If you exercise first, you circulation and diegetion will improve and you will begin to be hungry for better foods – a healthy diet will be easier to manage.
comment on any or all of these points are welcome!
Tractor tires- The next big trend in fitness?
Who could have thought the secret to health and happiness could be found in a giant piece of donut -shaped rubber?
It’s tire, it’s tire , it’s fun , it’s fun for a girl and a boy
It’s tire, it’s tire, it’s fun, it’s a wonderful toy!
Diet Vs Exercise
Of course it’s not an either or thing- it just gewt people goin when you put that “Vs” thing inbetween two topics! However if I had the choice-no surprise here- I would encourage exercise first. Why ? because i believe instinct is the best ally in diet and fitness. the key is to tuned in to your instinct and to recognize instinct from impulse.
If you get someone to eat healthy first, then try to get them to exercise, they will be using their conscious, logical mind for both. “I am eating this food for such and such and that will fuel my exercise and that will make me healthy”. That makes sense, it’s logical. But we dont eat candy out of logic, and logic doesn’t lead us to a sedentary life. in fact, when it comes to creating habits- bad AND good- logic is never listened to – and shouldnt be- it won’t help. Instead we have to train the emotional mind. We go below the the concious mind to a primal place- pain and pleasure and still deeper to pure nessecity. The senses are a sure fire path to the root of our emotional mind. Food trains the emotional mind negatively by offering comfort in times of stress through the primal senses of taste and smell. Since people tend to be very emotional and sensative about being overweight and out of shape and often have deep emational issues are food, Food should probably not be the focus of their quest for health.
More importantly, to get out of you logical in a healthy way,m you are beetter off focusing on exercise first. this will take your mind off of cravings and desires and make you open to a new mode of living. Once you have exercised enough, you will create a NEED in your body for nutrients and when the right foods are available you will begin to eat them.
All in all, I’ve been very satisfied with this purchase.
